I’ve seldom come across such a well-designed concept although it doesn’t come for free, when used properly the benefits will justify the investment. Growing your contact base, sending out mails with auto-responders, managing affiliates …. it’s all in there

We all know that marketing over the internet is becoming more and more common since it is fast, widely spread and accepted as the true source of up-to-date information.

Why economies fail to recover faster

Talking about improving performance 

Yesterday I had a conversation with a professional in the field of sales trying to convince me that people are not willing to change their ways. We were talking about offering new methodologies that have demonstrated their success in many regions in the world. He had an opportunity to jump on this results and explore applying it in his region. The fact that there were no references in the country he is operating in hardened his belief that “it won’t work here, because everything here is different”.

After a rejected attempt to offer contacting references in different parts of the world I just gave up …….

To me it is crystal clear that if things are not going well enough there is a clear need for change. To reject possible areas for improvement without thoroughly investigating possibilities seems, to put mildly, “unwise”.

The opportunity

On the other hand …… the conversation made my belief that there are opportunities out here stronger.

There must be organizations in every country wanting to make their people deliver up to the required standard 30 – 50% faster

Sure there might be differences in culture from one country to another or even between companies but ……. often a lot of the same principles apply to the processes used.

Once again the definition of insanity applies here “doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a difference in outcome”.

I know that generally speaking people do not like change too much but if we want different outcomes we do not have much of a choice

Change might feel uncomfortable for a while but the man above rather stands in the water than burn to death in the burning forest he just escaped from.

Not all changes are caused by life threatening circumstances but lack of willingness to change can be costly for individual, companies and nations.

Innovation

It is the era of innovation, we have made major leaps in technology over the last 100 years in many ways. Telecommunications, IT and  transport are some of the main things that stand out.

Waiting for miracles to happen

I am not saying miracles do not exist ….. it might however be too late to wait for them to happen.

If we feel that outcomes need to change simple solid, focussed actions will sometimes do. Lets not shy away from innovation and surely avoid being narrow minded. The fact that you didn’t see it working doesn’t mean it can’t!

If new ideas would be treated with the same level of narrow minded thinking as discussed above we wouldn’t travel by air, would not have internet or computers ……… and still believe the world is flat!

Why not start acting instead of just trying to explain to each other why things might not possible work …………………

Some thoughts on development of people

This week I had a conversation with somebody who graduated from University and is looking for a job. He explained to me that it is not easy because the market conditions are tough. I asked him what kind of job he was looking for and like others told me before he responded with: “I don’t really care”.

That really made me think and realize that although time is a very precious commodity and humans only live for lets say 80 years, many are apparently prepared to set themselves up for a potential failure. You can probably relate to the fact that the match between a job and an employee is not always successful and can lead to huge frustration for either party. How many are still in the job they’ve selected and how many that are still in there wished they would be able to find another one?

In my opinion one of the reasons that this might happen could be the lack of self-awareness. We simply do not realize enough what we as individuals have available as inherent qualities and as a result might leave some of those untapped for a long period. You will probably agree that it is enjoyable being able to use your talents because it leads to successes, compliments received from others and a stronger self-esteem.

Some educational systems link into the observed qualities of individuals even if they are in sports, music or other forms of activity.  Examples are specialized academies combining development of those skills with regular elements of the curriculum. It led to the production of “Stars” many times.

Not everybody is so “lucky” that they themselves or others see all their qualities and guide them on a path that leads to success and personal satisfaction.

I had this graduate on one of my workshops and all of those attending this workshop were given their Lumina Spark Portrait. The personality report based on combined Jungian and Big5 principles, quickly and accurately, discloses who one is and what natural gifts are hidden within. It shows characteristics traits and behavioural changes from various views.  It was a real eye-opener for him.

The point that I am making here is that, nowadays with suitable tools available to evaluate individuals and teams we can avoid trial and error paths and stay away from costly and painful mistakes.

In a Learning Paths setting we can use it to help map out the development to the ultimate goals that individuals want to achieve linking to their personal strengths and preferences. Knowing those also makes it easier for employers to develop their talented people, faster and better, with less frustration.  By demonstrating that the organization has mapped out the development path for their employees it gains credibility and strengthens its position to attract the available talent in the market they so desperately need.

“Too young” or “Too old” or “Overqualified” should be terms deleted from the development dictionary.

 Alexander the Great headed an empire at the age of 23 at which stage he was undefeated in battle. Alexander’s route to success was a combination of theory, coaching by prominent people such as Leonidas and Aristotle and on the job training while going into battle. Blended learning making use of the right resources and the recognized inherent qualities.

Others started successful business when they retired from their jobs as pensioners…..

The world famous Colonel Sanders launched his business at the age of 65, using his first Social Security check as start up funds. A master of personal branding, Sanders leveraged his honorary “Colonel” title and constantly wore the stereotypical “southern gentleman” white-suit and black tie. The rocket like growth of KFC is now legendary, and prior to his death Colonel Sanders’ restaurant chain had achieved over 6,000 locations with sales of more than $2 billion.

During his entrepreneurial tenure Sanders met with the U.S. Congressional Committee of Aging and spoke against mandatory retirement, highlighting the love for work and the value of wisdom in the work place.

Never say somebody’s age might be a hindering factor.

To Summarize:

  • Know yourself well so you can determine your own route.
  • Know your employees well so you can support them achieving the success that will benefit both parties.
  • Don’t leave things open in a “Mystery Period” of development map it out clearly with the right allocated resources and learning events.
  • Don’t just accept presented “limitations” as fact.

Completed the translation of Lumina Spark in the Slovenian language and we are receiving many positive responses from the market ….

We found strong partners in Croatia & Slovenia and presently working on partnerships in over a dozen other European countries to be finalized in the first half of 2012

Been awarded the European representation of Learning Paths out of the US …. (certification for the first partner  Mr Željko Šundov will be completed early January …. well done Željko !!!)

We’ve expanded our social media contact network with > 700% and received more inquiries in the last 2 months than during the 12  months period prior to that …

2012 won’t be easy it will still challenge our creativity in many ways but we are sure that with the correct product mix in place and the steadily growing partner network it will be a good year.
